Apologies if this has already been discussed. From what I understand, after the 18 block reorg a while ago some peoples transactions were no longer in the mempool and we're completely undone. when does a transaction leave the mempool? is it after the "standard" 10 block confirmation? what changes could be made to fix that from happening again? is there a way a merchant could reassert a transaction they hadn't received or something to prevent double spends? Like maybe they have their own node or software that recognizes all transactions meant for them and they make sure that they are included in the chain for x amount of time before forgetting about it?I know one of the things preventing more convenient use of monero is the need to wait for x amount of blocks for your transaction to be safe which obviously hinders something quick like going in and out of a convenience store. Is this why we would want L2 payment channels? We lock up a "prepaid" amount of monero ahead of time to consume at our merchant of choice?
