from Reddit.com, Future of kycnot.me)
Hey everyone,I am working on a new version of kycnot.me. It is a full rewrite of the site. I hope to have it ready for the 3rd anniversary of the site. With this update I hope to list not only services and exchanges, but also wallets. And more than that, not only good ones but also "bad" ones. How? Listing all the features and anti-featues (kyc-related) of such services, kind of like what can be seen in tosdr, but focused on cryptocurrency services.Another feature I've been thinking of is adding an "Issues/Controversy" section, that will list all controversies related to such services, so even if the features are good, people can be aware and decide further with such information.I want to ask the community, what do you think of these features, and, what would you like kycnot.me to have so people can trust it even more?

is this correct?./monerod --rpc-bind-ip 0.0.0.0 --rpc-bind-port 18081 --restricted-rpc --confirm-external-bind --public-nodeis the RPC server properly restricted on port 18081 in this case or do i need to setup a --rpc-restricted-bind-port on something other than 18081? final question, in this config if i set my cake wallet to MY.EXTERNAL.IP.ADDRESS:18081 it works fine when on cellular data. however, when i connect to the same wifi network as the node it will not connect unless i change it to NODE.INTERNAL.IP.ADDRESS:18081. I assume its doing this because my phone and the node both have the same external ip and the loopback is being blocked. any ideas on how i can get it to connect on both internal and external networks without having to edit cake wallets node config for it each time?

from Reddit.com, Opinion: Bitcoin is gold, Monero is money)
I've seen this debate lately about which one has the highest chance to be adopted as a global currency. Both are decentralized and can fight censorship, but one fundamental difference of Bitcoin over Monero is it halving cicles and fixed maximum supply. This gives the scarcity characteristic to Bitcoin.Monero on the other hand managed to successfully reach tail emission with no maximum supply. So the value of each Monero becomes its use case rather than scarcity, which is to be used as money.I don't know which one has more potential to be adopted in the future, though. In the today's scenario, where Central Bank Currencies with standard surveillance are to become a thing and privacy by default will be requested from the citizens, I believe Monero will be used for online payments over distances and Bitcoin Lightning for in person P2P trades on their mobile phones. However, if Monero can overcome this and implement layer 2 solutions, the use of Bitcoin won't be needed at all.(Every other cryptocurrency is a scam btw)

from Reddit.com, Our economy is growing, lots of new services are popping up, and that's great, but it's important to remember that some of them WILL be scams.)
I've been using, following Monero and engaging in the community for a long time. We have seen over the last couple of years an explosion of products and services targeting our community and economy, most of which are willing to try to understand our ethos and our ways of doing things, and it's great. We have a real, functioning circular economy and real, decentralized liquidity maturing fast. Its fantastic. But it's important to understand, with the level of growth we are seeing, there are going to be vultures. Those of you that are pretty new to this community are often not as hardcore about due diligence and our hard line expectations, such as everything being free software, everything being transparent (except our blockchain), asking rigerous questions and expecting candid, substantial answers, and our adversity to new things until those boxes are checked. We all need to remember to expect those things, all the time.Don't just expect that if some XMR related service is popular that the due diligence has been done by someone else. Do it yourself. Ask the questions yourself. Don't beat around the bush, we have a culture of candor and anyone attempting to engage the community in good faith should not take offense at a frank, bold and substantiative question. We will get scams pouring in from the broader cryptocurrency world as our userbase and community grows. Most of them won't be prepared for the level of rigor our community expects, and they'll be blindsided by our suspicion and expectations of good explanations, but the more mature vultures will eventually prepare for this, and will be better at hiding what they're up to. We have to be vigilant, do our due diligence, communicate with the rest of the community openly when we find scammy behavior, and not be afraid to shun any organization or individual, no matter how important their contributions seem, if they demonstrate a willingness to prey on our community.I just wanted to remind everyone, especially our newer friends, one of our greatest strengths is our standard for excellence and our candor, and we are going to need that now more than ever because we are entering a much faster growth period.

full image - Repost: Hypothetical Monero situation (
from Reddit.com, Hypothetical Monero situation)
Hi there!I was discussing Monero with a buddy who has not heard about it before. I am not expert at all and we debated about whether there was a chance for a government/corporation to effectively "take over" or control the network/value of Monero with enough money by bying up tokens. How does Monero avoid a hostile take-over of the currency? Is there a hypothetical situation where Monero could be toppled in this way by a government or corporation?Sorry if this was supposed to go into r/Monerosupport but it felt like more of a theoretical question and that's why I'm here. Thanks in advance for any answers.
