How to optimize syncing?

full image - Repost: How to optimize syncing? (from Reddit.com, How to optimize syncing?)
(Repost from r/Monero because I think questions like that are meant to be here instead)Yes I know, I can see in this subreddit going back several years, Monero noobs creating their first post on this subreddit “waaaa sync too slow”, looking for the magic key to the 5 second sync then transaction, without using remote node. I’m going to join them. I’ve seen many different people commenting on this subreddit that having an ssd (solid state drive) is a very important first step, which I’ve have. Or that you must move the files from a C disk to a D disk (I’m on a windows laptop with only C, I think… idek what that is). Or many other different bits of advice that seem to work for most people. I haven’t found much useful advice to my scenario yet, so I’m going to try to ask some specific questions to educate myself (a Monero and overall computer noob) and any other noob who may be struggling. For the record, I’m estimating my sync time to take 48 hours, when I’ve seen other redditors say theirs only takes a couple hours with a good setup. Is my ssd strong enough? It seems my computer does not have a hdd. I only have an ssd, however, when I look at my task manager, it looks like Monero is using a quarter of my memory at any given time, and my memory is 70-80% used overall. Like I said earlier I am on a laptop so I’m curious as to if that in itself is a problem, and I won’t get anywhere without a pc, or if there’s some sort of external attachment I can buy (external hard drive etc.) which will improve performance and sync time.File placement?I’ve seen other redditors solve their problems by moving their files from their C drive to their D drive or deleting certain parts of the Monero files which may be corrupted or not working properly due to an interrupted sync. It is making steady (albeit slow) progress with the sync, so I do not think I have problems from corruption. Is there any optimal file storage method for performance (one that I’m not capable of without a D drive)? Is task manager useful for diagnosis? I’ve been using my task manager to check performance and such and have noticed that my memory (alr covered) and disk are at pretty high load usually. My disk varies between 90% and 20% load. Does this mean anything? Is this telling me to get off my laptop and get a pc? May sound stupid but again, computer noob. What’s the ideal setup for Monero usage?I mean we have the obvious answers like faster/better components, as that would only help. But is it better to have a certain os? External piece of equipment as mentioned earlier? What was the game changer for you to have a smoother process with Monero.I’m sorry if any of this sounds stupid. I must reiterate, this is my first time using Monero and I’m kind of a computer noob overall. Maybe I shouldn’t be using Monero at all at this level of competence, but I’d like to learn, and I’m sure other people would too. Any comments, advice, or questions are welcome. I know I’m taking time out of your day answering another noob who’s in too deep for their expertise, however, I may have some follow up questions for the more knowledgeable anons out there, in an effort to create a very useful thread for incoming noobs like me. Thanks in advance for any help
