A misconception about Bitcoin privacy and OPSEC when performing atomic swaps

People like to parade BTC->XMR->BTC swaps as some magical solution to privacy that allows them to obfuscate their investment, probably for tax purposes. But this is firmly nonsense. Because if you swap your coins for another persons coins, all youve done is swap your payment history for another person's payment history. Theres a million ways this could go wrong, leaving you worse than before. For example: Maybe you successfully break the link between you and your investment into BTC, but now maybe you have the coins of someone comitting a felony on the darknet. You escaped the IRS, but now you are in hot pursuit by the FBI. And its not like you as an individual can affordably and reliably perform your own chainanalysis to ensure you receive and use clean coins. But the government sure can!Every attempt at "privacy" on a transparent blockchain like Bitcoin is fundamentally trading one kind of taint for another kind of taint. No amount of convoluted hoolahoops is going to change that, because good privacy by definition would be suspicious on Bitcoin if nothing else. The only exception i can think of is if you trade your dirty coins for a miner's clean coins at a massive discount, if they are willing to do that.Bitcoin cannot be used fungibly, and atomic-swapping for XMR and back does not bulletproof you from government investigating and prosecuting you. If you want fungible money without legal risks attached, then you have to use Monero, you cant just wash your coins through it.
