Monero GUI cant connect to dameon

I can connect to tor and use the internet just fine, but my monero GUI wallet never successfully connects to the dameon, it keeps switching between disconnected or just connecting forever. I have used this wallet before and this issue just happened. I also tried on a friend's network so the problem isn't my network. I also tried from multiple different nodes
