From 10 cent to $100,000,000+

And even though here on the platform we don't normally talk about Comics we still talk about creation. So my heart take is that initially starting off as a in the artist in any field you should probably place the barrier of Entry as low as possible. Not always free but maybe that way starting off and maybe starting off even further as Maybe 10 cent to a dollar and work your way up from there. To me the reason is simple we have had the blueprint for quite some time and I feel like a lot of Indie artist especially in the Comic Book Realm are not using that blueprint and ultimately suffering for it. So you could say that the comparison is a little bit unfair but I feel like nonetheless it is a valid comparison. Because those comics used to be visible with the purchase of a newspaper. And although they did not follow a linear system a coherent story it was entertaining nonetheless. Enough that when they finally had an amalgamation of stories to be told and a singular book to be written and drawn upon they were able to begin to request sales. They were able to request purchasing. Remember that initially these Comics were in newspapers for free. The money acquired through the newspaper wasn't necessarily that much if there was any money in it at all but individuals believed that one day these Comics could be a viable business proposition of viable monetary gain and so the investment into getting it to be in the newspaper was important. Then if we fast forward to when entire comic books were being created again they were being sold for since 5 Cent 10 cent one whole dollar right and these Comics were good both in story and character development as well as the artistry within. And so when people began investing in comic books or more specifically purchasing comic books not only for the different exclusive variants but just for the differing story lines and pictures within the stages they felt as though they were getting a steal paying so so much less for it. And even when when shopping at the store there for quite some time moving into the 90s you would be able to purchase a book as low as $3 allowing individuals to grab multiple comic books. I used to work at a comic book store and therapy individuals who are basically wait for their backlog to fill up before they would come retrieve comic books from the store. So what will happen is they were having account on file and we would save different comic books that came out for them and they would have a list of comic books they like characters they like things of that nature and then eventually they would come into the store and we would tell them they're backlog is ready we present to them some of the books that came out that we saved specifically for them they would look through them return to us the ones that they didn't really care for that much and purchase the the rest that they actually did care about. Those purchases normally total Maybe $55 and up and they would have like 10 books. So to see Tick Tock creators and other online content creators who are getting into the Indie comic book in manganese to see them selling their comic books or attempting to sell their comic books at $10 singularly when they don't yet have a name is I don't know how to describe it. Because you see they compare themselves to something like a Marvel or a DC or a shoning Shonen Jump and yet they don't understand that it is the Trust In Those products that did allow some of those products to sell. And even Marvel currently has been decreasing the cell in cells when it comes to the franchises a whole due to its competition just being better as far as storyline and visuals are concerned. Even though manga doesn't typically have any color.So here's what I'm getting at or the moral of the story I'm thinking that new indie creators that are making manga and comic books should start off a little bit smaller. If they want to see a Monica most success they have to really make it to where the barrier of Entry is not quite that large. There has to be a reason to consume your content over the other content that's already being consumed. Now you may get away with the fact that a lot of manga a lot of comic books take a nice amount of time to continue the story. Each and every one of these manga or comic books sometimes take upwards of a month to 3 months in order to release the next book. So it does mean that you're not in the competition is very different if you will. Nonetheless individuals still take the time to save their money meaning that they're already planning on what they're going to spend their money on and so they definitely may not include you because ultimately that's going to decrease again what they can actually spend their money on. So I believe the solution to this for upcoming Indie artists is the following. Yes building up an audience is definitely going to be important but it's going to be hard to build an audience again if your barrier to entry is too high so I think that you should be trying to figure out what is to high. I feel like that's what they were doing in the'70s and '90s. And ultimately now a lot of companies are finding out that their prices are too high for the work that they're doing. So starting off with undercutting the market could drastically assist you. Offering your singular book each week each month however often you want to sell it for as low as $1 can help you sell more books and ultimately grow in popularity. Another aspect I can't be used as housing your books all on one app or one website and charging for access to that catalog. How much should you charge for access to that catalog one to five dollars right and furthermore it will be a one to five dollar subscription meaning that as long as the individual you know has auto pay on the card and things of that nature they will consistently be paying you even when you haven't produced anything right and more often than not people don't cancel subscriptions especially when the subscription is not that large a $1 of subscription or a $5 subscription is not going to make it to where the individual can afford whatever it is that they're trying to make cuts for so it makes your it it increases the likelihood of you being able to hold on to users/readers.I have a lot more to say but I'm almost at work and I need to pick up the paper I'm going to be late. I think what I'm going to do is prepare and make a video of this information to make to just argue the point a bit further as I am certain that there are individuals that are not that are out there that will be unconvinced I'm also certain that there are individuals that's not thinking necessarily about the profit margins or capabilities or possibilities and again if you if you make it hard to love your content hard to find your content just because you're trying to make a vast assortment of money as fast as you possibly can I think that also ends up making it to where you end up making no money but creating a lot of content. Prime example is or at least one of the examples is an individual who created the song known as I'm getting old that went viral on tiktok. He spoke about how he actually decided to release his product on Spotify just to get the money from Spotify but of course Spotify is being relatively greedy and so even after hundreds of thousands of listens he barely made any money at all. However his initial barrier of Entry to the song you can hear clips of it on tiktok but if you wanted to purchase the song He provided links for individuals to purchase the song. And his link simply asked for whatever the individual can give. So maybe there were a plethora of individuals who couldn't give anything but just downloaded the song okay but he says he had more individuals paying for the song a dollar $3.25.36 right he had these kind of individuals paying for the song and there was more of them paying for the song then listening to the song in the money that he was getting from Spotify right now don't get me wrong Spotify potentially could have helped him in a sense that those listens probably wanted to own the song and not have to listen to it through Spotify all the time but he says most importantly he wasn't able to have that data so it's up in the air weather Spotify assisted him at all. But my point is the fact that he didn't make the barrier of Entry so large caused him to have success that is important to him. And I think this is something that the artistic world when it comes to drawing should definitely be taken into consideration.
