Our economy is growing, lots of new services are popping up, and that's great, but it's important to remember that some of them WILL be scams.

(from Reddit.com, Our economy is growing, lots of new services are popping up, and that's great, but it's important to remember that some of them WILL be scams.)
I've been using, following Monero and engaging in the community for a long time. We have seen over the last couple of years an explosion of products and services targeting our community and economy, most of which are willing to try to understand our ethos and our ways of doing things, and it's great. We have a real, functioning circular economy and real, decentralized liquidity maturing fast. Its fantastic. But it's important to understand, with the level of growth we are seeing, there are going to be vultures. Those of you that are pretty new to this community are often not as hardcore about due diligence and our hard line expectations, such as everything being free software, everything being transparent (except our blockchain), asking rigerous questions and expecting candid, substantial answers, and our adversity to new things until those boxes are checked. We all need to remember to expect those things, all the time.Don't just expect that if some XMR related service is popular that the due diligence has been done by someone else. Do it yourself. Ask the questions yourself. Don't beat around the bush, we have a culture of candor and anyone attempting to engage the community in good faith should not take offense at a frank, bold and substantiative question. We will get scams pouring in from the broader cryptocurrency world as our userbase and community grows. Most of them won't be prepared for the level of rigor our community expects, and they'll be blindsided by our suspicion and expectations of good explanations, but the more mature vultures will eventually prepare for this, and will be better at hiding what they're up to. We have to be vigilant, do our due diligence, communicate with the rest of the community openly when we find scammy behavior, and not be afraid to shun any organization or individual, no matter how important their contributions seem, if they demonstrate a willingness to prey on our community.I just wanted to remind everyone, especially our newer friends, one of our greatest strengths is our standard for excellence and our candor, and we are going to need that now more than ever because we are entering a much faster growth period.
